Get Involved

It is our desire that each person at Southgate discover a meaningful place of service. The Bible tells us we are to do something with our faith!

So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, "You have faith and I have works." Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

 - James 2:17-18 (ESV)

Ministry Map

One of the primary reasons we exist is for you to discover God's purpose for your life and fulfill it by doing ministry. To help you do this we have put together an assessment tool called M.A.P., which stands for Mission, Accountability, and a Plan.

This tool will help you discover your mission in life, formulate a plan to carry out your mission, and provide accountability.

If you would like to receive a copy of this assessment tool, which is followed up with a personal interview, please call our church office.

Behind the Scenes Ministry

Are you the type of person who doesn't like to be up front? Are you busy and need a lot of flexibility to serve? Do you like working at your own pace? If any of these questions describe you, perhaps one of these "behind-the-scenes" ministries is for you.

  • Vehicle Maintenance Ministry
People are needed to help keep the church vehicles clean and functioning and to drive the bus (Class B CDL license required) or vans for church events. If you have automobile mechanic skills or would like to assist with this ministry in another way, contact our church office.
  • Preparing visuals for our Children's Church ministry
Many times our curriculum calls for a poster, sign, picture or other creative visual. This ministry would allow you to choose projects within both your creative gifts and time commitments.
  • Preparing artwork and lettering for our bulletin board teams.
  • Scheduling Partner of the Week for the Kids for Christ program.
Each week a different parent or member or member of our congregation is invited to join Kids for Christ as that week's special guest. We need someone to make calls and set up a schedule of guests for the year.
  • Audio/Visual Coordinator
This individual is responsible for storing and distributing audio and visual materials to our Sunday School and Adult Bible Fellowship classes as requested.
  • Church Correspondent
Do you have an observant eye? do you enjoy making new discoveries? We need people to supply the Newsletter Team and the Bulletin Board Team with stories, pictures, special moments, etc.
  • Condolence Team
Team members are responsible for funeral meals, ordering flowers, and other acts of compassion for families and individuals in our congregation who have experience a death in their family.

 Mini Ministry Opportunities

O taste and see that the LORD is good;
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
Psalm 34:8

Have you ever thought about joining a ministry but were a little uncertain whether you were gifted in that area?

We've all been there!

Participating in Mini Ministry Opportunities (MMOs) will allow you to "taste" a ministry without signing on for the long-term commitment. Below is a list of current MMOs here at Southgate. These are one-time service opportunities. The decision to continue with any ministry is completely yours. If any of the listed MMOs appeal to you, please contact our church office. They will arrange for the person responsible for that area of ministry to contact you with more information. We encourage you to take a small "taste" - you just might find out how hungry you really are!
